Morocco Avocado Conference 2026: From Strategic Vision to Field Application

On September 30, 2026, the first edition of the Morocco Avocado Conference (MAC 2026) will bring together growers, international experts, researchers, exporters, solution providers, and industry professionals in Tangier around a central question: how can orchard performance be sustainably improved while addressing growing challenges related to water, climate, production costs, and market
requirements?
Held under the theme “WATER, YIELD, MARKET,” this first edition will connect the different factors that determine orchard performance today: irrigation and nutrition, tree physiology, pollination and fruit set, crop protection, orchard management, adaptation to stress, and production quality.
The experience will continue on October 1–2 in Larache with the Avocado Advanced Fertigation training, designed to bridge the knowledge shared during the conference, in-depth technical learning, and its application under real orchard conditions.

Water, Yield and Market: Three Dimensions of the Same Performance
In a context of increasing pressure on resources, more variable climatic conditions, and increasingly demanding markets, avocado orchard performance no longer depends on a single factor. Water management influences tree nutrition and physiological functioning. Physiology and pollination determine part of the crop’s production potential. Pruning and orchard architecture influence orchard management and productivity. Pests, diseases, and environmental stresses can affect both yield and final fruit quality.
Through the theme “WATER, YIELD, MARKET,” MAC 2026 aims to bring these different dimensions together to provide professionals with a more comprehensive understanding of performance: producing efficiently, preserving resources, maintaining quality, and meeting market requirements.

A Particularly Strategic Issue for the Moroccan Avocado Industry
In Morocco, these considerations take on particular significance. The development of the sector comes with challenges related to water availability and efficiency, climatic conditions, technical orchard management, and maintaining production capable of meeting market standards.
In this context, improving performance does not simply mean pursuing higher yields. It also means better understanding how the orchard functions, optimizing the use of available resources, and making technical decisions that can preserve productivity, quality, and economic viability.
MAC 2026 aims to create a space where these challenges can be considered alongside experiences gained in other major avocado-producing regions around the world.

International Expertise Applied to Orchard Realities
For this first edition, several international specialists will share their experience from major avocado- producing countries, including Prometeo Sánchez García (Mexico), Iñaki Hormaza (Spain), Schalk Schoeman (South Africa), Ben Faber (United States), and Gonzalo Vargas (Chile). The program will address key issues directly related to orchard performance, including pollination and fruit set, irrigation, nutrition, pest management, physiology, pruning, and tree management.
Beyond sharing technical knowledge, the objective will be to compare different international approaches and examine their relevance to real production conditions. The conference will also provide a meeting point for the different stakeholders across the value chain, encouraging exchanges between growers, technical experts, researchers, companies, solution providers, and market professionals.

From the Conference to Field Application
One of the distinctive features of this first edition will be the continuity between strategic thinking, technical learning, and practical application. Starting the day after the conference, participants will be able to continue the experience with the Avocado Advanced Fertigation Training, taking place on October 1–2, 2026, in Larache, at the heart of an important avocado-producing area.
Led by Dr. Prometeo Sánchez García and Gonzalo Vargas, the training will combine in-depth technical learning with field observation, with a particular focus on two major drivers of orchard performance: fertigation and avocado tree management. Fertigation will be addressed in relation to the different phenological stages, production objectives, and the nutritional requirements of the trees. Participants will
also explore issues such as salinity, soil constraints, climate stress, and the interpretation of soil, water, and plant material analyses to better guide technical decisions. A second component will focus on pruning and tree architecture, providing a better understanding of how orchard management can help maintain a balance between vegetative growth, production, and fruit quality.
The field component will then connect this knowledge with real orchard conditions through observations
and practical applications.

Three Days Connecting Strategy, Technical Expertise and the Field
With the Morocco Avocado Conference on September 30, followed by two days dedicated to in-depth technical learning and practical application, the objective is to offer an experience that goes beyond discussion. Professionals can participate in the conference, the technical training, or combine both formats through a dedicated package offering the complete experience.
Three days to understand the challenges facing the industry, deepen technical knowledge of key performance drivers, and bring expertise closer to field realities.
